Relıgıous Musıc Tradıtıon in The Druze Faıth
Druzism which emerged in the lands of Egypt under the influence of the Ismaili sect during the period of the sixth Fatimid caliph, al-Hakim bi-Amr Allah, and shaped within the framework of the divinity of the al-Hakim, is accepted as a esoteric belief. The Druze have kept their beliefs for centuries in accordance with their belief in taqiyya and secrecy, and for this reason, they have been called a closed and secret community. As a result of the seizure of Druze works and researches about the sect, we have learned about Druzism, but the belief still remains a mystery today. Various studies have been carried out about Druze in our country. However, there is no Turkish study on the musical aspects of Druze people. Studies on music have been conducted in English and Arabic languages. In this article, we would like to discuss the music of the Druze. The subject of this study is religious music in the Druze faith. In this context, the hymns of the Druze, the rituals they perform in their places of worship, the funeral ceremonies of social importance and the laments performed in these ceremonies will be included. Thus, the Druze religious music tradition and the types of religious music will be examined.
